Q: What is this webpage, blog, or whatever you want to call it?
A: This blog is meant as a compendium taking an overview and analysis of the 1980s Japanese animated series Maple Town. It examines the series, its history, the characters, the episodes, production staff, merchandise and so on.
Q: Are you affiliated in any way with Maple Town?
A: Other than being a fan, no. I did NOT work on the show in any country or am connected to anybody who did the same. As a further disclaimer (which will be reiterated on the copyright page), I do not hold any copyright, trademark, etc. on Maple Town, Palm Town or any other intellectual property other than my own.
Q: What is Maple Town?
A: Maple Town is an animated series produced in Japan in 1986 and broadcast in many other countries during both the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was followed by a sequel in 1987 called Palm Town, which broadcast in some (but not all) countries that aired Maple Town.
Q: Where can I get Maple Town episodes?
A: As of this time, both Maple Town and Palm Town were released on DVD in Japan. The Spanish dub of the series - La Aldea Del Arce - was also released in its entirety on DVD; select episodes have seen DVD releases in Hungary. At the time of this writing, no other countries have received DVD, Blu Ray or other format releases of Maple Town.
Some episodes were released on VHS videocassette between 1987 and 1990 in North America, the United Kingdom and other countries. These are long since out-of-print. Anyone wishing to track down said videocassettes will have to scour the usual sources like Amazon, EBay, second-hand stores, flea markets, garage sales, etc.
I cannot provide any sort of copies of Maple Town and/or Palm Town in any form to you; I cannot also provide information on where to find these.
Should the situation change and I learn of any media release of either series, I will share that news here.
Q: Who exactly are you?
A: My legal name is my own business. My professional name is Max West. I work as a freelance illustrator; I am the creator of the independent comic series Sunnyville Stories and the webcomic Tiffany & Corey. I like Maple Town as I had watched the series in the 1980s when it originally ran in the United States. In fact, it even inspired my own work Sunnyville!
I would like to thank a variety of sources for my research including but not limited to:

And that is that!
